Who we are
BIT Global Climate Change and Health Collaboration is a multidisciplinary initiative committed to strengthening Uganda’s capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to the growing threats posed by climate change and infectious diseases.
Our vision is to cultivate a society free from catastrophic health risks—where communities, districts, and national systems work collaboratively to ensure a safer, healthier, and more resilient population.
We achieve this by reinforcing health systems at all levels through coordinated efforts in prevention, early detection, rapid response, and advocacy. Our mission is rooted in promoting equity, fostering innovation, and facilitating multi-sectoral collaboration to address the intersection of environmental and public health challenges.
Through strategic programs in climate change and health, global health security, and antimicrobial resistance, BIT Global Climate Change and Health Collaboration supports community empowerment, evidence-based policy development, professional capacity building, and sustainable development.
We work closely with government agencies, international partners, academic institutions, and local communities to create a robust and informed health infrastructure that can withstand current and future threats.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a healthier and more climate-resilient Uganda and the world at large.
Mission
To strengthen national, Sub national, district and community health systems through coordinated prevention, early detection, and rapid response to Climate change and health threats, ensuring the security, resilience, and well-being of all populations, while promoting equity, innovation, and multi-sectoral collaboration in Uganda
Vision
To create a community free from catastrophic health threats where all districts and communities can collaboratively prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases and Climate change health challenges, ensuring a safer, healthier, and resilient population in Uganda
Organisational Goal
To safeguard public health and promote climate resilience by strengthening Global Health Systems at all levels through inclusive community engagement, evidence-based interventions, strategic partnerships, and innovative solutions.
BIT Global Climate Change and Health Collaboration aims to build a secure, equitable, and sustainable future by addressing the interconnected challenges of climate change, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance, while empowering communities and institutions to detect, prevent, and respond to health threats effectively and promoting climate-health communication in communities for the adaptation and mitigation.
Strategic Objectives
- To strengthen and sensitize communities to get involved and participate in climate change resilience projects for sustainable development
- To promote partnership, joint venture undertakings and information sharing among domestic and foreign partner organizations.
- Enhance the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices of current and future public health professionals concerning the climate crisis and other public health threats.
- Help institutions develop curriculum which is tailored to help in mitigating climate change and Health threats.
- Support, advocate and strengthen an agile and informed community around climate change policy formulations.
- Advocate for the researchers to put more emphasis in climate change and health research agendas.
