Celestin Bakanda is a statistician with a Master of Statistics and a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University, and a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) from the University of Washington. Celestin has varied experience in designing and managing projects and programs focusing on M&E functions. Celestin has experience working with several organizations in different roles and responsibilities that include: Data Management Officer, Programs Officer – Information Management, M&E Specialist, Quality Improvement (QI) Specialist, M&E Advisor, and M&E Manager. Celestin is a leader in developing M&E systems (including tools, management information systems, and developing standard operating procedures for both program record keeping and data management); he has trained and mentored teams (in M&E, QI, and research). Celestin has skills in reviewing research protocols in line with the National Guidelines for Research involving Human as Research Participants and has previously served on a Research Ethics Committee that is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology as a Chairperson for 6 years. Celestin has made abstract presentations at 2 international conferences on HIV/AIDS and one national QI conference. Celestin Bakanda is a distinguished researcher in the field of HIV/AIDS treatment and public health with 13 publications and 685 citations. Celestin has worked with organizations that include Baylor-Uganda, the Infectious Disease Institute of Makerere University, the Children AIDS Fund Uganda, and TASO Uganda Limited, contributing to their successful grant-writing activities.
